The Muslim doctor is a caller to Allah, and his profession qualifies him to play a significant role in enjoining good and forbidding evil, and in correcting the reality of many people. He has certain interactions with patients that he must be aware of and act upon. The Sheikh mentioned some of these situations and spoke about the ethics of the Muslim doctor. He then discussed the doctor’s approach to the dying patient in some detail. Following this, he commented on certain surgical procedures that the doctor should be aware of the rulings and jurisprudence related to, such as infertility treatment, cosmetic surgery, amputation, and autopsy. He also discussed important medical fatwas and decisions of the Islamic Fiqh Academy regarding certain medical issues.
